Richard Salas, DDS, MD
Richard Salas, DDS, MD was born and raised in Malibu, California. He first moved to the East Coast for his undergraduate studies where he attended Cornell University on a full scholarship. He then continued his studies at the University of California, San Francisco (UCSF) School of Dentistry. While at UCSF he developed a profound interest in surgery through externships and research. His particular interest in the quality of life of post-surgical patients led to publication in the Journal of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery. Dr. Salas served as Class President and went on to graduate among the top of his class.
Dr. Salas returned to New York to earn a medical degree at Weill Cornell Medical College. He then completed his Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery residency at New York Presbyterian Hospital/Weill Cornell Medicine, where he served as Chief Resident. His training included a General Surgery internship and rotations that included trauma, plastic/reconstructive surgery, and anesthesiology. During his residency at Cornell, he was trained in full scope oral and maxillofacial surgery, with an emphasis on orthognathics, craniofacial surgery, and complex dental implantology.
Dr. Salas is a Clinical Instructor in Surgery at New York Presbyterian Hospital/Weill Cornell Medical Center. He is a board eligible Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeon and maintains membership with the American Association of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeons, the American Dental Association, the New York State Dental Association, and the New York State Society of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeons.
Dr. Salas speaks Spanish and in his free time he enjoys sports, fine dining, and travel.
